4. I Had a Baby

#4
I Had a BABY

This is perhaps the post I have simultaneously looked forward to writing about the most and the least of all my posts on this blog.
 The most because, HELLO!!
and the least because I have no idea how to possibly put into tangible words just how ecstatically happy The Man and I are; how hopelessly in love The Man and I are, and how speechless we are that we brought this incredible little human being into this world.

World,
Allow me to introduce you to my SON;

River Daniel

Born 07.31.2013
6lbs,7oz
All boy.

I have yet to decide if I will share my birth story on the blog, but I will say it was one of the most incredible, intense, scary, and empowering things I have ever had the privilege to be allowed to do.

So.
Would I do it again?
absolutely.

"There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, a Holy habitation for the Most High."Psalm 46:4

HaHa.... Oops....

Has it really been since APRIL that I have blogged!?

Oye... Oops...Forgive me. SO much has been going on.

Let's see...

1. I turned 27
2. We moved
3. We are helping to plant a church

Oh, and...

4. I HAD A BABY!!

Seriously, the most adorable little Snuglet! I'm sure everyone says that about their children, but The Man and I are absolutely, hopelessly in L.O.V.E. with this little guy. I'll introduce you soon.

But lets work through this list one by one...

Ok, so I turned 27

I am THE WORST person to ask "So, what would you like to do for your birthday this year?" I seriously make it so hard on the questioner because my honest and typical response is usually something to the effect, "I don't really care, honestly whatever you want to do sounds great with me!" (What is wrong with me lol?)
But this year, I only had one request....
I wanted to ring in 27 with a nice...ZOMBIE MOVIE. I'm not kidding. It was like a craving.

See, The Man and I, for the most part, had been house bound for quite a while. When funds are low, you learn to heavily enjoy walks together, "movie night"--ie: Netflix and a box of Milk Duds, Dinners at home, etc. But The Man insisted on making an entire day of this birthday. He started the night before by setting me up with a Prenatal massage gifted by his folks. It was AWESOME... and at 34 weeks pregnant at the time, pretty much the best thing I could have gotten. The next day, I had to work, but The Man and I got up early for a heart healthy breakfast of coffee and donuts. YUM! Later, my mom met me at work for a delicious lunch at P.F. Changs coupled with a beautiful bouquet of fresh sunflowers (I LOVE fresh flowers).
Upon returning home, the man had not gotten me one cake...he had gotten me THREE! (mini cakes... from my favorite cake shop). We enjoyed bites of each together outside on the patio before heading to one of my favorite mexican restaurants for dinner.
So, pretty much I ate SUPER healthy all day long ;)

And then...
It was...ZOMBIE MOVIE TIME!!!
We took in a late night showing of World War Z at this super cool theatre called The Alamo here in town. It is a dinner theatre which means that for every two seats, there is a table and a really good menu of food and drinks. You can order whatever you want all throughout the movie, and they bring it right to your table.
The Alamo also does its own previews at the beginning of each flick, so everything was Zombie themed :)
I loved it.

Thank You Robert, for an incredible, unforgettable, 27th birthday. My last birthday before we officially became parents :)
Here are a few snaps from the day
XO.

The Dirty Thirty

H A P P Y * B I R T H D A Y
To my main squeeze! He turned

3 0

this past week!

Now...I know that I haven't been blogging for a few weeks, but life for us has been really busy, REALLY! (That's always the excuse isn't it?)
But you see, sometimes I can have this awful habit of being so concerned about catching the moment, that I fail to actually be present in it. Therefore, I took a little hiatus from the blog world to, well, enjoy the real world.

As these weeks have passed, on top of my daily activities, I have really only been doing one thing.
Getting bigger.
I seriously look like I am trying to smuggle a beach ball in and out of various places all over the beautiful state of  Colorado.
But BIG is beautiful, especially in this case.
Witness!?

Anyway, as I stated above, my darling hubs has officially reached the Dirty Thirty. And it has never looked better. I know many people dread the day when their 20's come to an end, but if you ask me, I think it only always gets better.

SO, being financially challenged as we are in this stage of life, I wanted to make my husband's 30th birthday as special as it could possibly be....with the limited resources that we posses.
Therefore, instead of making it a birthDAY, I opted for much more fun birthWEEK.

I began Part 1 with a surprise serenade at our weekly community group with a homemade Vanilla Coconut cake (with GOLD sprinkles!!).
We sang, and laughed, and really made a night of it.
(Not my best photo..be kind ;) )
The next morning, (Robert's actual birthday), Part 2 commenced.
I was finally able to give him the gift that I had been working on for a few months.
I knew that turning 30 in a new place, far away from family and our friends in Los Angeles was going to be hard for him (whether he chose to divulge that information or not ;) ). So, a few months ago I reached out to some of The Man's closest family and friends and asked if they would be willing to send a little special note of love and encouragement to Robert on his special day.
I have to say, they sent the WARMEST sentiments!!
From there, I printed out all of the letters (30 in total) and placed them in mini envelopes and attached them to 30 golden balloons
(that I strategically smuggled into the house without him seeing, mind you).
That morning....at 5:00am...I got up and filled our bedroom with the 30 golden balloons and 30 notes of love for Robert to wake up to.
I was making so much noise that I started to giggle...which then made me snort...which then made me giggle harder. But miraculously HE DIDN'T WAKE UP!? And my surprise was able to stay in tact.
The next morning Robert awoke to a forest of balloons, and it made his day :)
Part 3 of Robert's birthday was literally only made possible because of the generosity of my parents. They gifted us with a weekend of their time share up in the mountains. A much needed getaway for The Man and I.
We made meals, visited Buffalo Bill's grave?, roasted s'mores, and just relaaaaaaaaxed.
All in all, I think it is safe to say that my husband's 30th birthday extravaganza was a great success!
Happy Birthday Robert! I sure do love you.
Welcome, to your 30's.
XO

Twenty Six

Today I turned 26.
Today I turned that age. You know, that age. The age you dream about when you are little. The age that you think, "Once I get to ____, then I'm a real adult."
That age, is this age.
I am now officially on the other side of my 20's.
But you know what...
If today was any indication of what my 26 will be like, then I am going to have one hell of a great year. I literally had the best birthday a girl could ask for. Thanks in complete part to my sweet man of a husband.
Yesterday (not even my birthday mind you) The Man took me shopping! Ladies, I know...incredible right!? I timidly picked out two dresses and a pair of shoes, but after much cheering on of my husband, I confidently walked them to the counter where The Man proudly paid. I was in heaven. He then took me out to Mohawk Bend for dinner simply to give me an excuse to show off my new duds.
Then, this morning (my actual birthday) I awoke to The Man bright eyed and bushy tailed
[He couldn't sleep from sheer excitement]
We quickly got dressed so that my husband could give me my birthday present he had been waiting weeks to give me

...wait for it...

J A C K W H I T E  T I C K E T S !!
Ahhh!!!
I cannot contain the excitement this brought me. I literally cannot wait.
Then we headed to none other than Figaro Cafe for a quick bite before church. After church The Man took me to the Huntington Library, a place I have wanted to see ever since I've been in L.A.
We walked the grounds, checked out Johannes Gutenberg's original Bible, and cat napped under a shady tree..as well as watched Tornado videos on Youtube...dont ask...
Then, just as I thought my birthday couldn't get any better, The Man surprised me with a special Happy Birthday dinner at Malo with all of our closest friends.
How great is he!!??
They showered me with such thoughtful gifts. I am more than grateful.
I do not deserve this life, but thanks be to Jesus, am I right!?
Here are some snaps from our day.

PS: 26, you have been good to me. I look forward to my other 364 days with you.

Billy the Kid and Birthdays

We are blessed.
It's just simply the truth.
They say if you're lucky, you can count on one hand the number of people that matter to you most, and to that I say...well, then we have fists full.
The Man and I have been so dearly and undeservingly blessed by the group of people we have in our lives. We love them, and treasure them, and are so incredibly thankful for them.
Especially for this one...Billy.
Last night, Billy held a belated birthday dinner at his house in honor of The Man turning the big 2-9. Dinner consisted of filet mignon, baked potatoes with herb butter, bleu cheese, and parmesan, and salad. Not to mention homemade coconut and meyer lemon cupcakes.
I know..I'm sorry...my mouth is watering too.

Happy Birthday to Him

My Husband is 29 today

[Almost] 29 and Feelin' Fine P.II

The next morning The Man woke up craving a birthday breakfast that entailed delicious donuts and coffee. So...I did what any good wife would do. I not only obliged, but I did so with a "HECK YEAH!"

Thus Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you...The Golden Donut.
After breakfast, we got on the road to do what we came to do. Visit THE SAN DIEGO ZOO!
We saw my favorites, The Elephants...
 The Man's favorite...
Among many..MANY..others
I discovered a wild animal of my own...
One more time, but this time with FEELING!
But if you ask us, it was the Polar Bears that really stole the show...
The End
